One Response to Day 2 (Monday, 7/30/12): Map & Visits

The tourist teachers and I just had the most wonderful time at the Ceska Opera House in Haugen Our joyful hosts — Bob, Sally, Patricia, Wilfred, Aggie — demonstrated a kind of hospitality that I have rarely witnessed in my lifetime. They welcomed us with happy hearts and awesome Czech sausage, kraut/dumplings, and kolaches. They even rounded up an hour of local musicians and actors/actresses to entertain us and as a way to welcome us to the town of Haugen. A huge thanks to them! As I mentioned to our teachers this morning — I hope all of you were able to “stay present” and fully experience the meal, the friendship, the care and humor of our Czech hosts, and will take this evening to “reflect” on what it meant to you, how this experience connects to your life, to your students, and to the larger themes of the tour.
